GEOWORKS EXPANDS BOARD OF DIRECTORS BY ADDING BRIAN DOUGHERTY
Former Geoworks Founder Rejoins Board

ALAMEDA, Calif. (July 28, 1998) - Geoworks Corporation (NASDAQ National Market System: GWRX), a leading provider of smart phone solutions, announced that it has expanded its board of directors by adding Brian Dougherty of Wink Communications.

Dougherty, 41, is Chairman and Chief Technology Officer of Wink Communications. Wink offers a simple-to-use, low-cost enhanced television broadcasting system. Prior to founding Wink, Dougherty served as Geoworks' founder and Chairman from 1983 to 1997.

Dougherty is also a Director of NeoMagic (NASDAQ - NMGC) and several private technology companies including PlanetWeb, a developer of embedded Web browsers, Global PC, a low cost PC manufacturer, and New Deal, Inc., an educational software developer. Prior to founding Geoworks, Dougherty founded Imagic Corporation, an entertainment software company, where he served as Vice President of Engineering and a director from June 1981 to September 1983.
