Geoworks Announces European Developer Training Partner

ALAMEDA, Calif. -(BUSINESS WIRE)- June 4, 1997--Furthering its commitment to providing new opportunities for developers, Geoworks (NASDAQ: GWRX), a leading provider of smart phone software solutions, today announced that Breadbox Computer Company, the leading developer of third-party applications for the GEOS(R) operating environment, will now offer classes in GEOS to European developers.

This is the first time that GEOS classes will be regularly offered in Europe.

Under the arrangement, Breadbox will offer GEOS training classes throughout Europe. These classes will teach GEOS programming and use of the GEOS SDK and are designed for programmers and technical managers who wish to gain more practical knowledge and experience about GEOS. The initial classes will be taught in Germany starting in mid-summer and will be taught later in other locations throughout Europe.

"With its high cellular usage and growing demand for data services, Europe is a very important market for Geoworks," said Cheryl Burnell, Geoworks' manager of developer services. "With Breadbox's strong European presence, we are pleased that together we will be able to expand the areas in which we can offer GEOS developer classes."

The GEOS operating environment delivers comprehensive capabilities needed to enable mobile communications devices, such as smart phones, to integrate voice, paging, email, fax, Internet access and applications suited for mobile devices. Geoworks created GEOS to provide an efficient system software to run these devices at price points accessible to consumers.

"Over the years, we have developed an in-depth knowledge base about GEOS," said Frank Fischer, Founder of Breadbox Computer Company. "Since Geoworks is the leading operating system for smart phones, we now look forward to utilizing our experiences by participating directly in this rapidly evolving market and providing opportunities for developers interested in creating applications for GEOS-based devices."
